I am sailing....I am sailing...la la la la

Wow I have found my blog and realised I have not written one jot on it since I took up my job - now there's a surprise!

Anyway New Years Resolutions and everything, I'm back and typing from the middle of the Atlantic Ocean :) I'm currently aboard the Rainbow Warrior 3 on a mini voyage between Barcelona and Las Palmas, and have been keeping a little dairy which I will now share with you. Apologies in advance for the random interjections of insanity, its what often happens at sea.

Boxing day and I'm sailing...

We have left Barcelona in stunning sun, none of that snowy white xmas nonsense. The boat itself is like a well oiled machine and I am conscious of being an attention seeking spare part, except I've made myself particularly desirable by mutating into a snot monster.

Eyes and nose streaming constantly I am a slave to my snot rag and am more than a little irritated at the irony of my first holiday in 7 months resulting in my being ill. Typical I suppose.

Random quotes of the day "I have slept and read far too much Toast" and "In my sleep I dribble, the only difference is now my nose does too"

Bon Voyage all healthy people. xxx

Erna's 1st Feather

I have a lovely treat for you all!

I wrote this little story about two years ago, about Erna; a teddy hen Mark bought me as a pressie for our first Christmas together. She is thus very special to me and it is apt then that she inspires little stories.

Erna's 1st feather is the first, and my personal favourite, and for the first time, after a lovely long day of cutting, drawing, writing and sticking my little story is complete! I just had to share it with you. Please let me know what you think. I hope you love it!

Love Maria xx

p.s. apologies for the photo colour quality. The original is 7.5cm square, drawn on heavy quality cream card, and coloured brightly in pencil crayon.

Random Baking Poem

Gosh I hadn't realised how long it had been since I wrote something. Well I'm back now, and randomly spurred on by my recent birthday cake baking binge, I have written a daft poem. Hope you like it.

You know I love to bake
fantastic yummy cake
and muffins, biscuits, tarts and crumbles
All ensure your tummy rumbles

I make them big, I make them small
I'll make them at your beck and call.
Filled with luscious buttercream
and strawberry jam, it tastes a dream

At night I dream of chocolate dark and rich
and making cakes without a glitch
Then rise and shine, and off I go
To make a batch of cookie dough

My kitchens where I weave my magic
To miss out surely would be tragic
So hurry over quick quick quick
To guarantee your favourite pick

I'm sure you could come up with more cakey loving verses, so please feel free to add them.

Love from a cake stuffed
Maria xx
